In October, Extent Senior Associate, Ian Travers was elected President of Australia ICOMOS, having served on the Executive Committee for three years and as Vice President for the past two. Formed as a national chapter of International ICOMOS, the national committee of the International Council on Monuments and Sites, in 1976, Australia ICOMOS is a non-government, not-for-profit organisation of cultural heritage professionals with a mission to lead cultural heritage conservation in Australia by raising standards, encouraging debate and generating innovative ideas. Ian’s role will be to lead the organisation in providing expert advice and lobbying government on national heritage issues such as funding, legislation and site protection, as well as overseeing its management and organising conferences and other events nationally and in the Asia Pacific region.
