The Eastwood Shopping Centre Redevelopment involved a major renewal of the commercial core of Eastwood combining new residential, retail, commercial and community open spaces that interacted with heritage items throughout the precinct.
Extent Heritage provided heritage advice and input to the Masterplan proposal for the redevelopment of central Eastwood, NSW, as a part of the Eastwood Shopping Centre Redevelopment. The project involved the major urban renewal of the commercial core of Eastwood, including the redevelopment of the existing shopping centre, provision of new residential, commercial and retail space, as well as community open space and interfacing with heritage items within the precinct.
Extent provided initial advice to the project regarding archaeological and built heritage issues, as well as potential impacts to historic views, which provided guidance to the urban designers and architects developing the overall Masterplan. Once a final Masterplan concept was determined, Extent undertook the heritage impact assessment of the specific Masterplan proposal, to accompany the development application to Council.
A series of recommendations were included to mitigate heritage impacts, and identify opportunities for the integration and interpretation of heritage values into the precinct.
