In 2013, the Office of Rail Heritage was closed and its operations were transferred over to the newly formed Transport Heritage NSW. Extent Heritage were involved in providing ad hoc heritage advisory services to Transport for NSW, Sydney Trains and Transport Heritage NSW during a short-term temporary period when the roles, responsibilities, operational policies and procedures for the various organisations was still be finalised.
Extent was commissioned by Transport for NSW to work within their corporate offices to provide in-house ad hoc heritage advice. The advice ranged from preparing heritage impact assessments for major projects, identifying and preparing significance assessments on movable heritage, and assisting in the development of heritage policies and procedures for both Sydney Trains and Transport Heritage NSW. Tasks included:
Heritage Impact Assessments and significance statements on projects and movable heritage.
Presentations to management regarding the role of heritage in the organisation.
Prepare policies and procedures regarding the management of movable heritage.
Undertake a sample audit of the organisations movable heritage collection, analyse the opportunities and constrains and develop management strategies.
