Anita is an archaeologist with over 20 years’ experience in archaeology and heritage management. She has worked on archaeological excavations throughout Australia and internationally in Cyprus, Italy and Serbia as part of major redevelopment projects and within research contexts. Anita is also involved in cultural tourism through her work as a tour leader with Sydney based travel agency Academy Travel.
Anita’s expertise lies in the management of complex historical archaeology projects. She has advanced skills in preparing archaeological assessments, archaeological impact statements, management plans, research designs and excavation reports for a wide range of industrial and urban historical archaeological sites. Anita has an excellent understanding of the NSW and Commonwealth heritage legislation and is able to provide timely specialist advice on the assessment and management of historical archaeological sites and relics. Anita is recognised by the NSW Heritage Division as an approved Excavation Director for state significant sites in NSW. She has also led and worked on excavations at World Heritage listed places, including Old Government House and Parramatta Park at Parramatta, Sydney Opera House, and the Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne.
Anita is an accomplished historical archaeologist who has worked closely with a wide range of clients on complex development sites and skilfully managed large-scale archaeological excavations and multi-disciplinary teams. She has been participating in the Archaeology in the Rocks program organised by the Sydney Living Museums as a guest speaker.
Anita’s experience includes archaeological test excavations, monitoring and open area excavation on sites of World, National, State and local significance. Anita has worked with multidisciplinary teams including professionals with skills such as artefact analysis, geomorphology, materials conservation, heritage architecture and interpretation.
