Cathryn Barr is a Principal Cultural Heritage Advisor and Branch Manager of the Extent Heritage Victoria team, based in Brunswick, Melbourne. Over the past 25 years Cathryn has undertaken a wide range of cultural heritage management and archaeological consultancy projects in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific. Cathryn has participated in projects as a lead expert cultural heritage advisor, expert witness, project manager and senior archaeologist. Projects that she has been involved in have included large infrastructure developments, small and large scale private sector developments and academic research projects.
Cathryn has high level expertise in heritage management, including policy, management planning, risk and sensitivity assessment, preparation and presentation of expert evidence, peer review, archaeological assessment, project management, survey and excavation direction, significance assessment, cultural values mapping and liaison with stakeholder groups. Experience on large, multidisciplinary project teams has provided Cathryn with the opportunity to work with clients, project associates and stakeholders to identify early areas or items of heritage risk, and work together to identify positive heritage outcomes.
